Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Florida: Plan an On-Site Screening Day

4 min read

October puts women’s health on every wellness calendar—but pink ribbons alone do not get screenings done. For Florida employers, medical practices, schools, and government sites, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the moment to turn awareness into appointments: bring a mobile 3D mammography coach on-site so women can screen where they already are.

Florida Mobile Mammography (Invision Diagnostics of Florida) has delivered on-site screening since December 2017 across South and Central Florida. This guide is for the buyers who schedule those days—HR and benefits leaders, healthcare administrators, primary care and OB/GYN practice managers—and for anyone planning a qualifying workplace or clinic event this fall.

Why October is a smart month to host

Awareness campaigns raise interest. On-site logistics remove the usual barriers: time away from work, parking at a fixed imaging center, and “I’ll schedule it later.” When the coach is in your lot, participation climbs because the path to a screening appointment is short and clear.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month also gives you a natural reason to message employees or patients. Pair your pink-month communications with a concrete scheduling link and a defined event window, and you convert awareness into completed exams.

Who should host an on-site screening day

Corporations and HR teams. Offer a workplace wellness benefit that fits a busy day. Employees stay on campus; imaging comes to them. Family members can often be included when your event setup allows.

Medical practices and clinics. Primary care, OB/GYN, and multi-specialty groups can offer a turnkey screening day without building a permanent imaging suite—3D mammography, breast fellowship–trained radiology interpretation, and results routed to the patient’s provider.

Schools and government municipalities. Public-sector hosts often need predictable scheduling, privacy, and minimal disruption. A mobile coach supports that workflow when published volume guidelines are met.

Qualifying community partners. Florida Mobile Mammography supports community collaboration with one clear exception: the company does not book community health fairs. Workplace, clinic, school, and government formats work better for this model of care.

Florida counties we serve

Florida Mobile Mammography brings mobile mammography Florida coverage to Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Brevard, and Okeechobee counties—markets where employers and practices regularly need a mobile breast center close to home.

Free screening mammograms and low-cost options

Cost should not stop a woman from screening during Breast Cancer Awareness Month—or any month.

  • Many insured patients may complete screening with little or no out-of-pocket cost when benefits apply (confirm with the insurer and our scheduling team).

  • A published cash option supports low cost mammograms when insurance does not apply.

  • Through the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (FBCCEDP), qualifying women may access free screening mammograms. Eligibility generally includes no health insurance, income below 200% of the federal poverty guideline, age requirements, and Florida residency. Request a voucher for Florida Mobile Mammography (Invision Diagnostics) from FBCCEDP. County contact lines published on our site: Broward / Palm Beach / Martin — 954-762-3649; St. Lucie / Okeechobee / Indian River / Brevard — 321-984-4702; Miami-Dade / Monroe — 305-470-5634.

Verify eligibility with FBCCEDP and confirm details with our team before your event day. Rules can change.

There is no cost to the event host for bringing our screening unit on-site. We process billing through insurance; uninsured patients can use self-pay or qualifying grant pathways.

A practical planning checklist for hosts

Use this as your Breast Cancer Awareness Month playbook:

  1. Pick a date with lead time. Online appointments should be scheduled at least three weeks before the event to avoid cancelation.

  2. Hit the volume guidelines. Plan for a minimum of 18 patients screened and 25 scheduled (to allow for no-shows), with roughly 5–6 hours of screening time.

  3. Confirm parking and logistics. You need paved, mostly level space about 45 feet in length and 15 feet in height, plus a nearby restroom (there is no restroom on the coach). Assign one event host to coordinate with our team.

  4. Share the scheduling link. We set up a unique link for your employees or patients so they can pick a time and complete paperwork before arrival. Patients can also call to book.

  5. Message early and twice. Announce the date, who is eligible, what to bring (photo ID and insurance card when applicable), and that this is routine screening—not care for current breast symptoms.

  6. Think annual. Recurring yearly visits help women plan ahead and keep screening on the calendar after pink month ends.

Who is eligible for a routine screening visit

Typical published eligibility for a screening 3D mammogram with Florida Mobile Mammography:

  • Women 35 and older

  • At least one year since a previous mammogram

  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding

  • A primary care physician (or OB/GYN) to receive results

  • No current breast problem—routine screening only

Anyone with a new lump, nipple discharge, pain, dimpling, or other concerning change should contact a physician promptly—not wait for a screening event. This article is general education, not personalized medical advice.
