Mobile Mammography in Florida: Why Employers and Practices Bring the Bus On-Site

Sep 21
4 min read

Scheduling a screening mammogram should not mean a half-day away from work, a long drive, or another “I’ll do it later.” Across South and Central Florida, that friction delays care. Florida Mobile Mammography (Invision Diagnostics of Florida) brings an on-site mobile breast center—a fully equipped 3D mammography coach—to corporations, schools, government sites, clinics, and medical practices.

If you are an HR leader, healthcare administrator, primary care or OB/GYN practice manager, or a woman seeking convenient screening, this guide explains how mobile mammography Florida services work and how to request a mammogram bus.

What mobile mammography means

A mobile mammography unit is a clinical screening environment on wheels—not a tent or pop-up booth. Patients complete a routine screening 3D mammogram in a private coach. The goal matches a fixed imaging center: high-quality screening that fits real life.

Florida Mobile Mammography specializes in onsite 3D mammography so employers can offer convenient screening to employees and family members, and so medical practices can provide a concierge-style option without building a permanent suite. Qualifying community events are supportedwith one clear exception: the company does not book community health fairs, because that setting is not effective for this model of care.

Why 3D screening matters (general education)

In a traditional 2D mammogram, the breast is imaged in a limited number of views. With 3D mammography (digital breast tomosynthesis), images are reconstructed into thin “slices,” giving the radiologist more detail. Florida Mobile Mammography uses a loaf-of-bread analogy: instead of only seeing the outside, the radiologist can review many thin slices.

This article is general education, not personalized medical advice. Discuss screening with a personal physician. Florida Mobile Mammography offers routine screening mammograms for women without current breast problems. Anyone with a new lump, nipple discharge, pain, dimpling, or other concerning changes should contact a physician promptly—not wait for a screening event.

Who this service is built for

Corporations and HR teams

On-site screening reduces time away from work and can boost wellness-program participation. Employees stay on campus; imaging comes to them.

Medical practices and clinics

Primary care, OB/GYN, and multi-specialty groups can partner for a turnkey screening day3D mammography with breast fellowship–trained radiology interpretation, ACR accreditation, patient tracking, and PACS image management.

Schools and government sites

Public-sector hosts often need privacy, predictable scheduling, and minimal disruption. A mobile coach supports that workflow when volume guidelines are met.

Women seeking screening

Individuals can find opportunities through an employer, practice, or by contacting Florida Mobile Mammography directly.

Florida service area

Florida Mobile Mammography serves Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Brevard, and Okeechobee counties, with practice partners active in markets such as Miami, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Indian River, and Okeechobee.

Free screening mammograms and low-cost options

Cost should not block screening. Per the company’s public insurance and grants page:

• Many insured patients may screen with no out-of-pocket cost when coverage applies (confirm benefits with the insurer and scheduling team).

• A published cash price of $200 supports low cost mammograms when insurance does not apply.

• Florida Mobile Mammography is partnered with the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (FBCCEDP) for free screening mammograms for those who qualify. Eligibility generally includes no health insurance, income below 200% of the federal poverty guideline, age requirements, and Florida residency. Request a voucher from FBCCEDP for Florida Mobile Mammography (Invision Diagnostics). Eligibility basics

Typical screening eligibility from public preparation and practice pages:

• Women 35 and older (baseline ages 35–39; annual screening commonly discussed for ages 40+)

• At least one year since a previous mammogram

• Not pregnant or breastfeeding

• A current primary care physician to receive results

• No current breast symptoms—routine screening only

• A doctor’s order is not required, but a current physician is

Bring a photo ID and active insurance card when applicable. Follow the current preparation page (deodorant, powders, lotions, caffeine guidance).

MammoHeart and breast arterial calcification

Florida Mobile Mammography also offers MammoHeart, an AI tool used with routine mammography for eligible asymptomatic women (ages 40–89 per company materials). It detects the presence or absence of breast arterial calcification (BAC) alongside the screening mammogram.

Educational note (not a diagnosis): BAC is calcium in breast arteries that can appear on mammography. Materials discuss BAC in the context of cardiovascular risk awareness; it is not a standalone heart diagnosis. The company describes MammoHeart as adding no extra radiation for the mammogram itself, with BAC results alongside the breast report. Patients with breast implants are noted as ineligible; the add-on is described as not yet insurance-covered (cash/card or HSA/FSA). Confirm current details with the team.

If a clinician has discussed dense breasts or supplemental imaging—including automated breast ultrasound in other settings—follow that physician’s guidance. This mobile coach centers on 3D screening mammography and related offerings published on the Florida site.

How to request a mammogram bus

For a corporate, school, government, clinic, or qualifying community event, published guidelines include:

  1. At least 18 patients screened and 25 scheduled (to allow for cancellations).

  2. 2. No community health fairs.

  3. 3. Online appointments scheduled at least three weeks before the event.

  4. 4. Submit the Request a Mammogram Bus form, or call the Florida team.
